Savoury spices open up to ripe black plum, dark cherry and rose potpourri perfume. Good acidity on the palate to refresh the ripe notes of prunes, clove and plenty of dark spices.

The 2020 Castillo de Jumilla is a testament to what adding Tempranillo can do for Monastrell, its high acidity invigorating Monastrell's palate. The medium-bodied wine has pronounced aromas of red cherry, strawberry and raspberry. The palate continues the love affair of ripe red fruit with violet and black tea.

Jumilla Spain! A place of fine wine, amazing people and fantastic scenery. Surrounded by mountains and wine vineyards, I couldn't help how amazingly beautiful this little town was, and the one thing that stuck out the most was Castillo de Jumilla (The Castle of Jumilla) randomly sitting on top of a hill for all to see.

Jumilla Castle, locally known as Castillo de Jumilla, lies on a hill above the town of the same name, in the province of Murcia in Spain. The site of Jumilla Castle has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. It was fortified by Iberians and Romans.

At the forefront is José Maria Vicente, who single-handedly runs the vineyards and cellars of his 170ha Casa Castillo estate, 12km from Jumilla. Planted in the shade of the Sierra de Molar his Monastrell and Garnacha reveal floral aromas and notes of mountain herbs and lavender.

Native yeasts are used for fermentation. In the glass, this Monastrell is a classic display of present but round tannins that support notes of red plum, raspberry, vanilla and earth..
