Honestly I wish ESP still made them, I know they can't sell them in the states but I think the law suit didn't cover EU. They recently stop making them in Japan as of the end of 2021 from what I've heard, if they were expensive before, now they will impossible to buy if you're not rich.

This one is from the early 1990's just like what Hetfield played in the beginning of the black album tour and recording. It has the original hard wired EMG 81/60 combo which sound way better then the plug in versions. Tuners were changed to Sperzel's and has a Tone Pros abr-1 Bridge. The neck is super comfortable and bigger then the newer.

ESP MX 250 EMG81 2X White Reverb
From around 1989 to the mid 90s James went through a large number of nearly identical black ESP Explorers. They were all MX-250 models, which is largely similar to the older 220 model - except for the ebony fretboard instead of rosewood, and some minor differences in body and headstock shape. All of the guitars were equipped with EMG 60/81.
